World's End "Wave Length" 2008

91 Points - Wine & Spirits
90 Points - Stephen Tanzer IWC

"Jonathan Malthus of Château Teyssier in St-Emilion and The Colonial Estate in Barossa is releasing the first vintage of his new project in Napa Valley, World's End. This blend, half cabernet franc and half syrah, is more than a clever midpoint between his home base and his Australian project. Grown in the cool hills southeast of the city of Napa, there's a fragrant logic to this wine that makes the blend compelling. It's fresh and bright, the purple richness of syrah checked by the edgier details of cabernet franc's tannin. That tannin seems to open up the flavors of the wine, bringing out mineral notes and red tones in the fruit. Firm and complete, this blends tension and richness together in a delicious red"

"Wavelength" is named for singer, Van Morrison's 10th album. An upbeat, more R&B-influenced album with a punchy production slant.

Described by Robert Parker as a 'visionary, self-styled revolutionary' and the 'English winemaking guru,' Jonathan Maltus cut his teeth in the fine wine business during the 'garage revolution' in Saint Emilion, France during the 1990's. Chateau Teyssier, a Saint Emilion Grand Cru Estate, has expanded from 14 to 125 acres, into one of the main players of Saint Emilion (capturing three 5 Stars from Decanter with the 2010 vintage – including its flagship wine, Le Dôme).
